It’s been another busy fall season for the Westfield Vocational Technical High School (WVTHS) community, and I’m eager to share some of what we’ve been up to. Our Construction Technology students have finished the roof on the gazebo in Park Square and our Horticulture department has just about wrapped up their landscaping projects at City Hall. Electrical Wiring students have been supporting the Retire the Fire program throughout the city and are currently wiring the garage at Westfield High School built by our Construction Technology students. Our Manufacturing department will again team up with the Hampden County Regional Employment Board to offer a three hundred hour training course in the evenings for adults starting in January. Our school has also concluded it accreditation visit by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and look forward to the release of their final report in the spring of 2015. The Parent Volunteer Organization coordinated another successful Craft Fair and our freshmen are in the final stages of the exploratory process. This is just a short list of what has been happening at our school this year. It’s hard to believe that it’s already December and we have a busy month ahead as well.
Our Horticulture department has been working hard preparing for our annual holiday plant sale. Stop by Horticulture December 1 through December 5 between 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. to purchase assorted holiday and poinsettia plants grown locally in our own greenhouses. Prices range from $6 -$20 per plant. For more information, please contact Mr. Nate Sperry at [email protected].
On Friday, December 12, the Westfield State University Department of Music, Dever Stage and Westfield Vocational Technical High School present CARPE DIEM! WVTHS is pleased to host Westfield State University students to perform for the community. YOU LEAD and the American Red Cross will team up on Friday, December 19 for a community blood drive from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in our gymnasium. YOU LEAD students that assist in planning this event are eligible for individual scholarships. For more information or to sign up to donate, please contact Mr. Kyle Dulude at [email protected].
Finally, our Annual Holiday Lunch Buffet in Tiger’s Pride Restaurant will be on December 19 this year from 10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. at $7.50 per person. Join us if you can. Happy Holidays from all of us at Westfield Vocational Technical High School!
