WESTFIELD – Two small dogs abandoned by their previous owners arrived at the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter in need of major surgery.
Ava, a sweet senior poodle, was left on a roadside so badly matted she could barely walk or see. It took a professional groomer 3 hours to free her from her painful prison of hair revealing a massive tumor on her side and a festering laceration on the side of her face.
Molly, an adorable lhasa apso, was found with her sister Mabel and needs expensive knee surgery on both of her rear legs.
Both dogs are currently in the custody of FRIENDS of the Westfield Animal Shelter, Inc., a registered non-profit organization founded to assist the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter dogs and are being cared for in foster homes.
A fundraiser has been organized to help pay for the surgeries for both dogs at UNO Chicago Grill at the Holyoke Mall at Ingleside on Monday, May 6th, 2013 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. During the event, UNO will donate 20 percent of any patron’s check to FRIENDS of the Westfield Animal Shelter, Inc. if they present a ‘ticket’.
Free ‘tickets’ are available at the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter or can be downloaded on the Facebook page of FRIENDS of the Westfield Animal Shelter, Inc.
Tickets are not allowed to be distributed at UNO’s on the night of the event.
Donations for Ava and Molly’s medical care are also being gratefully accepted by:
