WESTFIELD –  Genesis Spiritual Life and Conference Center was happy to host “Nurture the Seed” honoring the five Sisters of Providence who have devoted 100 years of service to‘planting the seed’ for the development of the spiritual center and continuing to fosterits formation and growth. It is a historic era as Genesis marks the decades of time and energy they have spent so thousands of others could experience God’s providential love in natural beauty. It is also historic as the Sisters pass the leadership on to a new Executive Director, Liz Walz.
“Nurture the Seed” marks a time of transition and recognizes the strong and sustaining efforts that the five sisters have accomplished since the founding of Genesis in 1976 as a ministry of the Sisters of Providence,” stated Walz. “I am grateful to be part of this wonderful moment,” she continued.
This event was held at Genesison Sunday, April 21, 2013. Genesis honored the five Sisters of Providence; Sr. Ann Horgan, Sr. Ruth McGoldrick, Sr. Elizabeth Oleksak, Sr. Mary Horgan and Sr. Raphael(departed). The program for the event included the planting of five trees, one each in honor of each sister and the passing of the Genesis ‘watering can’ to the new executive director.
