Huntington -Donald Dugas, Sr. passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2019 at the age of 74. Donald was born on May 9th, 1945 in Alabama to the late Henry Dugas and Nellie Mazza. Don spent the majority of his life in Huntington, MA where he met his wife Grace. He worked at Westfield River Paper Company for 28 years. He then moved on and worked at Westfield State University where he was well known by the students. Don liked to spend his free time cracking cold beers with the people closest to him. He was always one to rattle off a few jokes and keep everyone laughing. Don was an avid gun collector and his other hobbies included watching NASCAR, tinkering with cars, and watching college softball with his loving dog Lexi. Don and Grace spent many years traveling to Vermont to camp on the weekends where they made many friends and memories. They spent nights together dinning at one of their favorite restaurants, Paisano’s. In his later years, Don enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Grace (Besancon) Dugas, his children Donald Dugas Jr, Pamela Bartlett and her husband Richard Bartlett, his brother Gerald Dugas, his grandchildren Nathan Dugas, Kayla Carpenter, Cassie Dugas, Kyle Bartlett and their significant others, his great grandchildren Mia Whitman, Kaylee Dugas, Garrett Spencer-Bartlett, Matthew Carpenter and Abigail Dugas, as well as multiple nephews, nieces and cousins. The funeral for Donald will be held on Friday, October 18th at 2 pm from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 12-2 pm. Burial will follow in Norwich Bridge Cemetery in Huntington.
