Donald E. Lane

WESTFIELD – Donald E. Lane, 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Born in Springfield, son of the late Clarence and Mary (Wender) Lane, he grew up in West Springfield before moving to Westfield in 1966.
He was a 1951 graduate of West Springfield High School. Donald worked for the former A&P Food Marts for thirty-nine years, in management, before he retired. He was in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 serving in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Oriskany.
He leaves his wife of fifty-three years, Barbara A. (Sigrist) Lane; his beloved children; a son and his wife, James A. and Arlene Lane of Feeding Hills; a daughter and her husband, Sandra L. and Lawrence Wolfe, Sr., of Fairbanks, Alaska, and seven grandchildren, Bryan, Greggory and Eric Lane, and Travis, Curtis, Laura and Ethan Wolfe. He was predeceased by a grandson, Lawrence A. Wolfe, Jr.; and a brother, Robert E. Lane, Sr.
The funeral will be held Thursday, February 21, at 12:00 noon at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
