SCHENECTADY, NY – Doris R. Kitchen, 93, passed away on December 10, 2012 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. She was born in Providence ,RI, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Whitely) Tyson.
Doris grew up in Greystone RI and attended local schools there and in Providence. She graduated from Classical High School and Rhode Island College of Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. During and after WWII, Doris taught elementary school in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a nursery school teacher at the Westfield, MA YMCA and a community volunteer.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Kitchen Jr. in 2008 after 65 years of marriage. She leaves her daughter, Deborah R. Kitchen-Sears and her husband Paul of Clifton Park NY; two grandchildren, Katheryn A. Sears and Jonathan D. Sears, both of Clifton Park, NY; and two nephews, Mark Saxon of PA and Robert Saxon of RI.
There will be a private funeral at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam, Ma.
