SOUTHWICK – Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Mesick) Leavitt, 80, a resident of this town since 1967, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2013 at Renaissance Manor in Westfield. Born and educated in Westfield, Dottie was the daughter of the late Norman A. & Katherine (McGrath) Mesick, and was a graduate of Westfield High School.
Dottie had previously worked in the cafeteria in the Southwick School system, and had also worked at Stanley Home Products. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Church. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and ceramics in her spare time. Dottie was a member of the Southwick Senior Center.
She is survived by her children, Eric W. Leavitt of Southwick, MA and Susan A. Parks and her husband Steven of Westfield, MA; a brother, Donald Mesick of Westfield, MA, and five grandchildren, Megan Lynn, Brittany Ann, Dylan John, Brandon Tyler and Megan Leigh. She was predeceased by her husband, Orman Leavitt in 2003.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Burial will be in New Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, February 22nd from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
