Douglas Charles Taylor

SOUTHWICK – Douglas Charles Taylor, 94, (1922–2017) passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Noble Hospital in Westfield. Born in Westfield to the late William J. and Anna (Bletsch) Taylor, he was a graduate of  Westfield Trade School and went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater and Philippines. Douglas held various positions over the years, including Vice President at Arts Supply in Hartford, CT and Taylor Dodge in Westfield. He was an avid horseman and a 32 Degree Mason. He is survived by his nieces and nephew, Judith Godzind and her husband Stanley, Russell Taylor and his wife Mia, Brenda Hodge, Jayne Smith and her husband William and Jill Taylor; his cousin, Betty Wright, and by many great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Russell Taylor and his wife Anne and Richard Taylor, and by his niece, Sally Dewey.

A committal service will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Douglas’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
