Edna Emma Schneider

WESTFIELD – Edna Emma (Wroblewski) Schneider, 91, (1932-2024) a resident of Westfield for 70 years, passed away peacefully at home on July 13th, 2024. Edna was born September 2nd, 1932 in Kleipeda, Poland to Adolph and Anna (Czerwonajcio) Wroblewski. She grew up working on her family’s farm, endured World War II as a young adolescent and later immigrated to the United States in 1954, together with her immediate family and settled in Westfield. She married her beloved husband, Robert, on May 29th, 1954. She was a communicant of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was active in the church during her entire life. She was employed by Torrington Company, Columbia Bicycle and was a homemaker and caregiver for her family.

We’ll all remember her for her strength and fortitude, her caring and giving nature, and especially her love and devotion to her family and loved ones. Her steadfast faith and her strong work ethic were an inspiration to us all. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who always put others before herself. She especially loved being with her two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also loved cooking, baking, gardening, tending lovingly to her many flowers and plantings, volunteering at St. John’s, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed and will always be in our hearts and minds.

Edna is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Lea; brother Ewald Wrobleski, sister Annegret Wroblewski and her husband, Scott Kimball; sisters-in-law, Alma Sofinowski and Martha Wrobleski; grandchildren, Kara (Schneider) Sullivan and husband, Christopher, Gregory Schneider and his wife, Marissa (Ellis); great-grandchildren, Rose Sullivan, Luke Sullivan and Bryce Schneider; nieces, Christine (Sofinowski) Swords and her husband, Christopher, Irene (Sofinowski) Crowder, Valerie (Wrobleski) Main and her husband, Donald; nephews, Yuri Kimball and Madison Kaleward, Stephen Wrobleski and fiancée, Margaret Bright-Ryan and many grand nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; her parents; her brothers, Emil and Eric; sister, Helga; and niece, Sharon.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 19th, 2024, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, July 20th, 2024, 10-11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (lounge), 60 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., with a burial service following at St. John’s Cemetery, 139 Lockhouse Road, Westfield, MA. Following the burial service, all are invited to a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Association.
