WESTFIELD – Edward F. Barry, age 84, passed away on the evening of Monday, July 22, 2019. He was born in Westfield to parents Edward and Jean Barry. Eddie was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He was a proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Eddie was an avid golfer; he spent many days out on Oak Ridge golf course in Agawam. Sports were his passion. He was always looking for sports to watch. Eddie took pride in being from New England and cheered on all New England sports teams. The Red Sox and the Bruins were his favorites. Recently, Ed took a big chunk of time out of his days to learn the game of lacrosse because it was a large part of a few of his grandchildren’s lives. Eddie was everyone’s number one fan in sports and life. He enjoyed eating ice cream with his wife while watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play in the pool. Eddie loved learning about and playing with new technology. You could often find him saying “Alexa, play Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond,” or, “Alexa, tell me a joke.” Eddie and his contagious smile will be deeply missed. He is survived by his soulmate, his middle school sweetheart, his best friend, his Mickey, and his wife of 64 years, Joanne M. (Mickey) Barry. He is also survived by his children Michael, William, Stephen, Philip, Jody, Robert and his wife Laura, Rick and his girlfriend Michele, Jean and her husband Joseph; his brother, John Barry, of Adams, MA his 10 grandchildren; his 11 great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. Eddie is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Jean Barry; and his son Edward Barry. Calling hours will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Westfield.
