Edward M. Gutt, Sr.

WESTFIELD – Edward M. Gutt, Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side January 22, 2023. He was born in Westfield, MA to Walter and Geraldine (Egleston) Gutt, Sr. on May 9, 1950. As a child, Edward enjoyed such things as playing the accordion and did so for 5-6 years. He was a member of the Westfield Boy Scout Troop #101 and also the Order of the Arrow. Edward graduated from Westfield High school in 1968. Following high school, Edward joined the Army National Guard for 10+ years; began working at Mutual Ford in Westfield, MA doing such things as painting and bodywork for vehicles. Later on, he took a job working for Digital Equipment Corporation also in Westfield, MA as a machinist, then became an inspector before he retired in 1994 when Digital closed their doors. He loved to hunt, had an affinity for birds, enjoyed fishing (both local and with friends/family from Canada), gardening, had a lifetime membership to the National Rifle Association, and had a passion for painting and working on cars.

Edward leaves behind his beloved wife Judith (Bonzek) of 50 years. Edward also leaves behind his mother Geraldine Gutt of Westfield. Edward leaves his brothers Walter Gutt, Jr. and wife Christine Iglesias of Westfield and Gerald Gutt of Westfield. His children, Edward Gutt, Jr. and partner Darby Chandler-Ladouceur of West Springfield and Jennifer Tuttle and husband Robert of Westfield. He leaves his grandchildren Tyler and Mason Dionne of Easthampton.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Dorothy Egleston.

Funeral services will be private. Donations in Edward’s name may be made to Westfield Cat Project and the Pioneer Valley Boy Scouts of America.
