Elinor J. Moriarty

HOLYOKE – Elinor Jean (Bourbeau) Moriarty, 91, (1928-2020) peacefully passed into the Lord’s presence on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Holyoke Health Care Center.  She was born in Springfield to the late Arthur G. and Henrietta L (Brunelle) Bourbeau and was a 1947 graduate of Holyoke High School. She was employed as a packer for Fowler Farms for many years. She truly enjoyed playing games, especially Scrabble, and loved playing the piano, even into her latter days. For years she would visit area nursing homes and entertain the residents with her varied repertoire of songs. Sadly, Elinor was predeceased by her beloved husband Alfred Moriarty in 1983.

She is survived by her loving children, Maureen Smith and her husband Rev. Edwin of Buzzards Bay, Kathleen Deprey of Westfield, Ellen Myslicki and her husband Alfred of Greenfield, Michael Moriarty and his partner Edelyn Masagnay of Honolulu, Susan Moriarty of Gardner and Mary Swierad and her husband Edwin of Holden. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Bourbeau and William Bourbeau and his wife Sheila, all of Holyoke, her sisters, Norma Raftery and her husband John of Holyoke, Joan Hart of Virginia and Carol Burrow and her husband Ron of Arizona. She cherished her fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her beloved great granddaughter Alyssa Deprey. Elinor’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 25th with a Mass at 11AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield, MA. Visiting hours will precede the Mass from 9-10:30AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085. Donations in lieu of flowers in Elinor’s name may be directed to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield, MA 01085.
