GRANVILLE – Elizabeth Stella (Wladyga) Fernandez, 92, (1927-2020) 
wife of the late Jose A. Fernandez, passed away on April 21, 2020 at Armbrook Village Senior Living in Westfield. She was born in Newark, NJ. Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Julius and Justine (Halik) Wladyga. Elizabeth was employed by the Newark, New Jersey School System. Elizabeth was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. She loved to read, crochet, sew, and cook. Elizabeth loved listening to music and dancing. One of her biggest joys was being with her family and friends. She was very proud that her children and grandchildren achieved advanced education degrees, as she could not. Elizabeth was extremely social; people meant everything to her.
In additional to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by her daughter, Diane. Elizabeth is survived by a son, Joseph A. Fernandez and his wife, Rose of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Mary Ann Fernandez and her husband, Richard N. Pierce of Granville; two grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Fernandez and her husband, Dr. Abram Van Der Geest and their son, Azarias Tycho Van Der Geest, of North Carolina and Dr. Joseph Anthony Fernandez and his wife Danelle and daughter Adelaide Wren Fernandez and son Sebastian Blaise Fernandez of Maryland.
The family would like to thank the Administration and staff at Armbrook Village’s Compass Neighborhood in Westfield for the exceptional care and support of “Betty”. They are truly wonderful caregivers.
