Elizabeth Shreenan

 

WESTFIELD-Mrs. Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (Flynn) Shreenan, born and raised in Pittsfield, MA and most recently of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully on January 12, 2015. Born in Pittsfield on June 12, 1927 Liz was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ann and Thomas Francis Flynn who founded the original Flynn’s Pharmacy of Pittsfield. Liz was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School and Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee, MA with a degree in Biology. She married her late husband John P. Shreenan Sr. on July 25, 1953 in her hometown where they settled and raised their family. She dedicated her career to teaching first graders at Hibbard and Williams schools in Pittsfield, retiring on June 13, 1988. Her husband died July 20, 2010. A renowned hostess, she was especially popular with the Cambridge Ave./Marlboro Dr. “crew.” Her pool parties were epic! Liz was an avid reader and an even more avid shopper who was on a first name basis with the women at the Lenox Talbots. Many of her fondest memories were spent in Newport, RI with family and friends. In their retirement Liz & Jack spent their winters in Siesta Key, FL and traveled extensively to Europe and on cruises making friends wherever they went. She volunteered countless hours at both Hancock Shaker Village and Tanglewood. Liz will be remembered for living her life passionately with a big heart and a contagious smile and laugh.She leaves her daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Lusteg of Westfield and Beth’s sons Matthew and Patrick; her son John Patrick Shreenan, Jr. and his wife Kristi and their two children Declan and Talia of Hingham, MA. Liz also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and their families in Pittsfield, Middletown, RI and New Jersey. Funeral services will be Monday Jan. 19 at 10:30a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME WITH a Liturgy of Christian Burial at11:00a.m. in Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev. Peter Narango, Parochial Vicar. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery.
