Ellen Dale Hoppe

CHESTER – Ellen Dale (Gamache) Hoppe, 75,  a retired Respiratory Therapist at Noble Hospital, passed away Wednesday, March 4th at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  Born in Westfield, MA on September 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. Gamache and Hazel M. (Aldrich) Gamache.  She was a lifelong resident of Huntington and attended local schools. She was a graduate of the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston and Springfield Technical Community College. She was a former member of the Huntington Lions Club, a member of the Highland Grange, HAMM Radio Club (call letter KD1YJ), Mt. Tom Radio Club and the Amateur Relay Radio Association. For the last few years she was active with Highland Valley Elder Services at the Huntington congregate meal site and Huntington Brown Bag service. Ellen leaves her husband of 54 years, Siegfried Hoppe; a son, John R. Hoppe and his wife Laurie of Russell; two daughters, Heidi Kellogg and her husband Harry Jr. of Huntington, and Karen Hoiberg and her companion, Jason Slack of Westfield; sixteen (16) grandchildren and eight (8) great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, W. Paul Hoppe. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 11th from 4:00-7:00 PM at O’Brien Hilltown Funeral Home, 27 Russell Road, Huntington, MA followed by funeral services at 7:00 PM.
