Employee charged after real life game of “finders keepers”

WESTFIELD – Finders keepers may work as a child’s game, but not in the real world.

According to the urbandictionary.com, the term is derived from an old children’s adage “finders keepers, losers weepers”, which basically asserts that anything found or discovered by someone automatically entitles them to ownership of that property.”

In this case, though, it was the finder who was also doing the “weeping.”

Imani J. Gladden, 20, of 549 Russell Road, was placed on one-month pretrial probation in Westfield District Court Friday. She was also ordered to pay $224.82 in restitution on charges of receiving lost credit card, improper use of credit card under $250 and larceny under $250 by single scheme.

She paid the full amount after Friday’s hearing.

Gladden was working at Pride, located at 234 East Main Street, on November 7 when a victim lost his/her debit card while using the ATM at this location.

At the end of her shift, Gladden took the card and used it for $103.15 worth of transactions.

One fraudulent transaction was conducted at Walmart, located at 141 Springfield Road, for $63.62 on November 7 at approximately 5:25 p.m.

The card was later refused for not having enough money on it when Gladden attempted to use it at the Holyoke Mall at which time she discarded the debit card into the trash.

When Gladden was interviewed by Westfield police, she admitted to the charges.

An employee at Pride said that Gladden no longer works there.
