WESTFIELD – Ernest Kenneth Wood, 74, (1947 – 2022) passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 38 1/2 years Judith L. Wood. Ernie was born on December 24, 1947, to his parents, Olive & Kenneth Wood, in Pittsfield, MA. He had four sisters: Rose Shaw of Dalton, MA, Marion Kickery (now deceased), Sylvia Davenport (now deceased) and Doris Wood (now deceased) and one brother, Leroy Wood of Athol, MA.
At the age of 19, Ernie married Elizabeth Taylor of Charlemont, MA. Together they had Ernie’s only child, a son, Todd E. Wood of Hebron, CT. Ernie and Elizabeth divorced in 1973. Ernie met and married his true love, Judith L. Warren, on October 5, 1983. Judy had three children from a previous marriage: Scott Hodges of Southwick, MA , Cheri (Hodges) Barbarotto of Lakeland, TN , and Christine (Hodges) Avery of Felton, CA. Ernie leaves behind his only granddaughter, Breanna C. Wood, daughter of Todd and Elise Wood of Hebron, CT along with 16 step grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren. Ernie’s love of old cars, good food, and cracking a good joke was known by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Please join us on November 25, 2022, for a Celebration of Life gathering at 1pm following a private burial service at Agawam Center Cemetery. The gathering will be held at the American Legion Post 338, 46 Powder Mill Road, Southwick, MA. Lunch and refreshments will be served. The family is requesting that you bring a photo or a memory to share at the gathering. A photo and memory board will be at the hall for family and friends to share their memories of Ernie.
