WESTFIELD – Eugenia “Jean” Duda, (1924 – 2017) 92, passed away peacefully Friday, February 3, 2017 at Holyoke Medical Center. Eugenia was born September 3, 1924 in Lithuania to the late Andrius and Constanza Kinkaite. Eugenia immigrated to the United States in 1951 and became a US citizen in 1957. She worked for Decorated Metal Products for over 50 years.
Her interests included a love of crocheting and being an active member of the Westfield YMCA. She was a faithful communicant of St. Casimir and St. Peter Parish, and had been active in the Knights of Lithuania for many years. Following the end of WWII until her immigration to the United States, she served as a transit camp nurse helping to care for the masses of people that had been displaced by the war. But most important to her was the role of devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Eugenia is survived by her beloved children Raymond Duda of Somers, CT, Eugene Duda and his wife Sylvia of Tuscan, AZ, David Duda of Westfield and Dale Clink of Westfield. Eugenia was predeceased by her son Rudy Duda in 1974 and her daughter-in-law Cathy Duda in 2012. She was the cherished grandmother to Alicia Clink of Westfield, Nicholas Duda of Tuscon, AZ, and David Joseph Duda, Jr. currently on active duty in the United States Air Force, and great grandmother to Elizabeth Clink of Westfield.
There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial February 8th at 9 a.m. at St. Peter and St. Casimir Parish, 24 State St., Westfield, MA. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eugenia’s memory to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
