Southwick Public Library Teen Events

March 5, 2019 @ 8:00 am - March 28, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

Teen Volunteers: Southwick Public Library is looking for students in grades 7-12 to help at the library for 1 hour a week at a mutually agreed upon time. This experience looks great on college and job applications! Interested candidates should hand in a completed application to the Reference Desk at the Library before the interview date. Applications can be found at the Library or at the Main Office at Southwick Regional School. Interviews will be held Tuesday, March 5th at 3:00. Any student selected to volunteer will be asked to attend an orientation on Tuesday, March 12th at 3:00. For further information, call 413-569-1221 ext. 3.

Teen Tech Week: Southwick Public Library is celebrating Teen Tech Week on March 7th from 2:30-3:30. Students in 7-12th grade are invited to try one of our tech stations, where they can make a potato-powered clock, use our 3D Doodler Pens to build a creation, or play Outdoor Adventure on the Wii. No sign up required, just drop-in. For further information, call 413-569-1221 ext. 3.

Pi Day Pi-Ku Writing Contest: What is a pi–ku? It’s a poem where the number of syllables in each line corresponds to the digits of pi. That is, the first line has 3 syllables, the second has 1, the third has 4 and so on. Since pi is an infinite number, Southwick Public Library challenges students in 7-12th grade to compete to write the longest pi-ku! Submit your poem with your name and phone number on or before March 14th, or stop in the library after school to write one with a friend! Winner receives a personal mini pie. For further information, call 413-569-1221 ext. 3.

Cookies and Coloring: Students in grades 7-12 are invited to the Southwick Public Library on Thursday, March 21st from 2:30-3:30 to color, chat, listen to music and have some cookies! We will have all the coloring sheets, gel pens, and colored pencils that you’ll need to take part in this relaxing activity. For further information, call 413-569-1221 ext. 3.

Manga Club: Get together with fellow fans, watch an anime movie and eat Japanese snacks at the Southwick Public Library. Contact the Reference Desk to find out which movie was voted on at the previous meeting. Drop into this friendly group of fans from 2:45-4:45 on Thursday, March 28th. For students in grades 6-12. For further information, call 413-569-1221 ext. 3.
