Francis E. Jaeger

WESTFIELD – Francis E. Jaeger, 88, of Westfield passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Dayville, CT on April 6, 1924 to John S. and Exilina (LaRiviere) Jaeger.
Francis was a WWII US Army Veteran, serving with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division and participated in the Liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp. Francis was the Owner Operator of Jaeger Air and Heating Corporation. He was a member of American Legion Post 338 in Southwick and a former member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and The Southbridge VFW. Francis was a communicant of St. Peters & St. Casimirs Parish and was on its Finance and Building Maintenance Committees. He enjoyed spending time on camping on Cape Cod with his family and sailing in Long Island Sound with his wife.
Francis leaves his wife of sixty-three years, Madeleine (Proulx) Jaeger; three sons, Paul E. Jaeger and his wife Maryann, Michael J. Jaeger, and Edward F. Jaeger and his wife Leanne all of Westfield and eight daughters, Constance M. Santinello and her husband Charles and Eileen M. Hocking and her husband Roger all of Agawam, Susan M. Jaeger, Diane M. Johnson and her husband Ralph, Janet M. Cummings, Anne M. Faunce and her husband Chester, Heidi M. McGrievey and her husband Michael all of Westfield and Michelle M. Tarbox and her husband Gerard of Somers, CT. He also leaves twenty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Francis was predeceased by two sisters, Claire Hamilton and Gertrude Stevens.
The funeral will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Peters Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
