WESTFIELD – Francis M. “Frank” Madiera, 81, of Westfield died Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Noble Hospital. He was born in Shamokin, PA on August 5, 1931, son of the late Stewart and Julia V. (Wendell) Madiera.
Frank graduated from Shamokin High School and entered the US Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant in Korea and Vietnam retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he moved to Connecticut and worked at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven and moved to Westfield in 2000. Frank was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club in Westborough, CT and Westfield, MA. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and shooting pool.
He leaves his wife, Therese J. (West) Madiera and his children, Marianne Warner and her husband Bill of Lebanon, NY, Evelyn Gadomski of Westfield, Terri Miller and her partner Bill Corrigan of Southwick, Denise Bradley and her husband Jim of Gardner, ME and Georgianna Madiera of Southwick; two sisters, Margaret Welker of Malvern, PA and Mary Buranick of Coal Township PA. Frank also leaves his step children, Debra Guletsky and her husband Nick of Wakefield, John Manos and his wife Denise of West Palm Beach, Fl, Raymond Manos and his wife Ramona of Westfield, Jeanne Manos of Westfield, and Terry Manos and his wife Maureen of Hampden; twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Liberty (Raissi) Madiera in 1991 and by a son, Raymond Dubois and a daughter, Susan Corrigan.
The funeral will be Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by burial with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
