WESTFIELD – In the early morning of Saturday, February 8th, Francis (Frank) Mika passed peacefully in his sleep. Born in Chicopee in 1936 to the late Elizabeth (Devine) & Francis J.Mika, Frank lived most of his life in Southwick and Westfield, where he owned radio and TV repair shops, before working at Columbia Bicycle. Frank was a kind and sensitive person, who liked making others laugh. In his free time, he enjoyed flying small planes, watching horse racing, riding motorcycles, playing cards at the Italian Club, and visiting the Finger Lakes and Saratoga Springs with his best friend of many years, James C. Sulewski, who died in 2015.
Frank is predeceased by his siblings, Frances (Mika) Calvert, Joseph Mika, and William Mika; and his nephew, Daniel N. Jemiolo. He leaves behind his brother, James Mika of Southwick and Sister-in-law Patricia Mika; nieces and nephews Leonard J. Jemiolo and wife Anna of Springfield; Paul L. Jemiolo and wife Elizabeth of Fredericksburg, VA; Kathleen (Calvert) Delano, his primary caregiver, and husband Robert of Chicopee; Kathleen (Mika) LaCross and husband Wesely of Westfield; Karie (Mika) Jewett and husband Patrick of Agawam; James Mika and wife Tina of Agawam; Deborah Mika of Cincinnati, OH; Judy (Mika) Culley and husband Jason of Belchertown, as well as, twenty-three great-nieces and nephews and twenty-three great-great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his friend and neighbor of many years, Jose Santiago, and his friend and roommate, Gary Delano, both of Westfield.
