WESTFIELD: Fundador Larriu, Sr., 84, of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully with his family present at Baystate Hospital on October 24, 2021. Fundo as he was called by family and friends, was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Fundo moved from Puerto Rico when he was only 17 years of age, farming the tobacco fields in the states eventually settling to Massachusetts. He spent most of his working career at Columbia Manufacturing and retired from Mestek, Inc. in Westfield. Fundo was strong in his religious faith and an active member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Parish in Westfield. Fundo enjoyed singing, playing the guiro, harmonica and dominos.
Fundador Sr. was loved and is survived by his sons Fundador Larriu, Jr., Angel Larriu, Joseph Larriu, his daughters Norma Larriu, Teresa Larriu, Barbara Nichols, Judy Felix, Kathy Fletcher, his 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and his 5 sisters Rafaela, Ana, Tina, Aida and Maria.
The Memorial service will be held at Firtion Adams Funeral Home on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 4pm-7pm at 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Funeral service will be held at Saint Mary’s Parish, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA on Friday, October 29th at 10:30am. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
