WESTFIELD
– Gary J. Mirek, 66, passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 28, 2017. He was born to the late Edward & Virginia (Carey) Mirek on June 2, 1951. He graduated from East Hartford High School CT. in 1969. In 1969 he also joined the Airforce Reserves for 6 years. He married “his girl” Kathy Dailey on June 9, 1973. He started as a lineman for Helco in Hartford, CT. and ended his 42 year career in the utility business at ISO New England as a forecaster. Along with his wife he also owned Westfield Cleaners in Westfield from 1990-2001. His true passions were working around his house, helping his children with various projects at their homes & above all else playing with his grandchildren. Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy, his 2 children; Brian & wife Julie (Pagliarulo), Kelly Carney & husband Derek; 4 grandchildren, Matthew & Ella Mirek, Devyn & Liam Carney. He is also survived by his siblings; Judy Zipfel, Edward Mirek, Lynn Stearns and James Mirek. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 2nd from 4-7 pm at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 3rd at 10 am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. Special thanks to Dr. Glynn, Tracy, Marisa, Cindy & all his staff for all their compassion & caring during this difficult journey.
