WESTFIELD – The Gateway Regional High School girls’ soccer team unleashed its wrath in a less-than-neighborly-way against St. Mary on Thursday at Westfield Middle School North. The Gators won by a touchdown and 2-point conversion to blank the Saints, 8-0.
Caroline Booth (2 goals) scored in the 17th minute, Joanna Arkoette tacked on a goal three minutes later, and Jamie Pease netted a hat trick sandwiched around halftime – 2, first half; 1, second – and Caitlyn Bodoh and Alyssa Moreau added further insurance with one goal apiece.
It was the first two varsity goals for Booth, a sophomore, and junior Bodoh.
Gateway goalie Brooke Fairman (1 save) earned the shutout in net. St. Mary’s collected seven saves in between the posts.
