George E. Avery

BLANDFORD – George E. Avery, 20, (1997 – 2018) passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2018. Born in Springfield, MA on July 15, 1997 to Gordon C. Avery, III and Donna J. (Gosselin) Avery, he was a 2015 graduate of Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School in Northampton, graduating from the Graphic Communications program, and a Shift Leader for Global Montella Group Corp.  George also attended Gateway Regional Middle School and was a student in one of the last classes enrolled at Blandford Elementary School. George was a very creative young man and will be remembered for his beautiful paintings and drawings and his fun loving spirit and generosity. He became a very good cook and loved to create new recipes to share, putting his own spicy spin on classic dishes. He had a heart as big as a mountain, always ready to lend a helping hand or be a supportive listener for anyone who needed it. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially enjoyed time spent with his best friend Kyle, most memorably, their ‘music walks’. We all lost a wonderful young man and everyone who knew him is a better person for it. George leaves to cherish his memory, his parents Donna and Gordon C. Avery, III of Blandford; his brother Gordon C. Avery, IV and fiancée Allison Croisetiere of Blandford; grandparents Gordon C. Avery, Jr. and Angela Avery of Springfield; Aunt Ann Marie Cantin and husband Thomas of Chicopee and their children William and Allen and Aunt Kristina Avery Montano of Florida and her children Zackery, Sebastian, Gwen and Collin. George was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Norman and Barbara Gosselin. He also leaves a large loving extended family as well as his best friend Kyle Bessette of Blandford. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4–7 PM at Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Parish, Allen Street, Springfield, MA. For more information, please visit www.forastiere.com
