George H. Haley

WESTFIELD – George H. Haley, 85, of Westfield, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Noble Hospital. He was born in Westfield on July 3, 1927, son of the late George J. and Elizabeth (Sketchley) Haley.
George was a U.S. Naval WWII Submarine Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed as a truck driver for several local trucking companies. George retired as the head custodian at the Westfield Athenaeum. He was a member of the Bay State West U.S. Submarine Veterans and built model planes and submarines. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
He was the widower of Jean M. (Golembiewski) Haley. George leaves his daughter, Mary Jean E. Pease and her husband Jeffrey of Southampton; a brother, John E. Haley and a sister, Elizabeth M. Boisseau both of Westfield. He also leaves two granddaughters, Mellissa Kuschka and her husband Brian and Jennifer Dunham and her husband James, two great grandchildren, Loren and Jordan and a special partner Joanne Lissee and two sister-in-laws, Jean Haley and Dorothy Phelps both of Westfield and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert R. Haley.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
