George “Pudge” Hartley

WESTFIELD – George “Pudge” Hartley passed away peacefully at home in Tamworth, NH on Sunday, June 29th 2025. He was 81 years of age. George was surrounded by his loving family and his favorite “little buddy” Winston.

George was born in Westfield , MA on December 14th, 1943 to George Sr. and his wife Clara Hartley. He attended Westfield Public Schools throughout his childhood and grew up farming at Wyben Orchards. George married his beloved wife Janet Hiersche, from Ludlow, in 1964 whom he met through 4H. George began working for Agway as a truck driver in 1973-1990. He then drove for his sons at Hartley Bros. Landscaping for many years.

George was very involved with the Wyben Union Church as a Trustee, a youth group leader, and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed many interests and was active enjoying skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing, and traveling to explore many parts of the U.S. including John Deere Country. George had a love of all things John Deere and believed the only tractor worth owning should be painted green and yellow.

George was preceded in death by his daughter Molly Ann and his oldest son Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his sons Andrew, Bret and his wife Tasha, Brian and his wife Kathleen, his daughter-in-law Catherine, and his sister Verna Seyfarth. He also leaves behind nine Grandchildren and many more loving family members.

There will be a Graveside Service at Middle Farms Cemetery at 405 Russellville Rd. Westfield, MA on Thursday, July 10th at 11am.
