George Thomas Morris

WESTFIELD – George Thomas Morris, 67, passed away at his home on September 6, 2023, after a long struggle with COPD. George was born on October 10, 1955, in Weymouth MA, the son of the late George M. Morris of Springfield MA, and Ann Fletcher of Cohasset MA.

George played many musical instruments but was best known for his harmonica skills. He enjoyed ‘jamming’ with friends and attending open mic nights. His harmonica playing was often heard through the halls of Southwick High School where he was a graduate of the class of 1973. George also enjoyed expressing his artistic abilities and was chosen to design the cover of his Southwick High School yearbook. George was blessed with a loud, boisterous voice, which greeted friends and family. He was a friend to all who met him and was a kind and loving soul.

George is predeceased by his father George Morris, his grandmother Frieda (Mimmie) Sullivan, as well as many other relatives. George is survived by his mother Ann Fletcher of Cohasset, his sister Kathryn (Lulu) LeBlanc of Portland CT, his brother Tom (Tombo) Fletcher of Russell, his favorite Aunt and Godmother Frieda (Toots) Sullivan of Scituate, his niece Sarah LeBlanc of Portland, CT and her children Cameron and Tessa Kirkland, his niece Meaghan and her husband Ryan Kochuk of Hebron, CT and their children Riley O’Bara, Jake, Miles, and Emerson Kochuk, his former brother-in-law Claude LeBlanc of Berlin CT, and his best friend Joe Bannish of Westfield. George is survived by many other family members and friends.

George’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who provided care and support for George during these difficult years.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 224 Sheep Pasture Road in Southwick MA on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Southwick Cemetery, College Highway, Southwick.
