WESTFIELD – Georgette D. (Cayer) Russell, 100, (1922 – 2023) passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born in Rumford, Maine to the late Willie and Anita (St. Cyr) Cayer. Georgette was an avid bowler and bowled candlepin until the age of 96! She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She was active in the Woronoco Union Church, worked on the altar flowers, was superintendent of Sunday School and the treasurer until it closed, then joined the Wyben Chapel. She was also active in the Strathmore Community Center, the March of Dimes and was a longtime member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Sadly, Georgette was predeceased by her beloved husband Warren Holmes Russell, her brother Roger Cayer, her sisters Sylveine Cayer and Fleurette Moreau, and three grandchildren, Wendy Switzer, David Broderick and Paul Broderick.
She is survived by her five loving children, Shirley Holt and her husband George of Westfield, Bonnie Cormier and her husband Jeffrey of Westfield, Dennis Russell with Carol Hadley of South Carolina, William Russell and his wife In Sun of Russell and Cindy Churchill and her husband Curtis of Russell, her cherished six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring in the Wyben Chapel, 678 Montgomery Rd., Westfield, MA 01085. Arrangements are under the direction of the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085. www.firtionadams.com
