Geraldine Kandefer

October 16, 1927 – January 24, 2024

A white rose is a symbol of purity, innocence, and grace, not susceptible to disease. Much like her favorite flower, Geraldine lived her life with a youthful spirit, bestowing her compassionate kindness towards others, and always placing her trust in the natural course of the Universe, until the very end.
My grandmother had a saying, and if I remember it correctly, it went something like this: “You know the old saying, ‘You’ve done your best, God will do the rest!’”
And…God will do the rest. As your soul travels through the highest spheres of Heaven, your husband and daughter display a heartfelt smile, awaiting your presence. You are home. You are safe. No more pain. Heartache is non-existent, and pure bliss is inevitable. An effortless euphoria, where it is summer all the time.
As a society, we rarely ever celebrate death. Yet, if we take a minute in our hectic nonsense to think about it, leaving this vessel and transcending onto a higher level of consciousness is something we should all rejoice in and welcome with open arms!
As I close this tribute to a warm and tender daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, I go back to the words of a brilliant physician: “We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.” – Gabor Maté.

Mother’s wings shutter towards an iridescent glow
One made up of honeysuckle against a deep lavender haze,
All the while, a simple porch light calls home
This must be where her dance begins
within the confines of sunset,
surrounded by unbridled courage

The poem below was created by her granddaughter, Marilyn.
The picture was hand-drawn by her grandson in law, Patrick.
Loving support towards this tribute was provided by her daughter, Debra, and son in law, Rudy.
