Gloria A. Jegelewicz

Westfield – Gloria A. (DeRoche) Jegelewicz, age 87, of Westfield, MA passed away peacefully on November 23, 2016 with her family by her side.  She was born on May 17, 1929 in Ludlow, MA, the daughter of the late Elaine (DuFault) and John B. DeRoche, and the late Mary McKinnon and George McKinnon, all of Springfield, MA.  She retired from the Westfield Manor Nursing Home in Westfield, MA in May of 2001 at age 70 after working there for 25 years. Before that she was a stay-at-home mom raising her five children.  She loved baking and making her special cookies, and enjoyed the simpler things in life and cherished time spent with her loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Jegelewicz, Jr. (Jeggy) in 1992, her son John D. Jegelewicz in 1999, and her granddaughter Amy Cavanaugh in 2013, and infant great-grandson Ahlee.  She leaves behind her children, daughter Mary Cavanaugh of Turners Falls, daughter Anne Hassin and her husband Ken, son William J. Jegelewicz III , and son Vincent Jegelewicz and wife Susanne, of Westfield, with whom she lived and who cared for her dearly. She also leaves her grandchildren William IV, Patrick, Jessica, Jacqueline and her great-grandchildren James, Kaycie, Trynity and Zaida, along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special friend Stella Hebda and Jack Szczepanek, who was like a son to her. She was also predeceased by her brother John DeRoche and sisters Anne, Rita, Blanche, Mary, and brother George (Buddy) and his wife Josephine all originally of the Springfield area. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield at 11:00 am on Monday, November 28, 2016.  There are no calling hours.  Firtion-Adams is in charge of the arrangements.
