Granville Police report two incidents on same street

GRANVILLE – According to the Granville Police Department, there were two reports last week on McCarthy Road that appear to be related.

The first incident may have occurred more than a week ago, as the homeowner returned from vacation last Monday and noticed that their house was cold and the heat wasn’t working. After having the furnace repair man check the problem, he noticed that a key part to the furnace was missing and it appeared that someone broke into the residence through a window in the basement.

Then, on Monday evening, the second concern on McCarthy Road involved the homeowners catching an individual on their outside surveillance camera walking on their property and up to their door. Lt. Rick Rindels said that the individual never entered the home or stole anything as the family dog scared the person away.

In these incidents, the Granville Police believes that they’re making progress with this investigation.

“We believe it’s the same person,” said Rindels. “We just don’t have any proof of it yet.”

If anyone has any information about these incidents or wants to report a suspicious person or a break-in, call 911 or the Granville Police at 413-357-8572.
