WESTFIELD – Hazel D. (Smithies) Krostoski, 90, of 2 Meadowbrook Lane, Westfield died unexpectedly, Friday, September 21st at Noble Hospital in Westfield. She was born in Becket, June 25, 1922, the daughter of Albert and Eliza (Dean) Smithies.
She was educated in local schools and graduated from Chester High School in 1940. She was later married to John J. Krostoski. They made their home in Chicopee, later moving to Dover, Delaware in 1954 and then back to Westfield. Hazel was a retired LPN. She worked at Western Mass Hospital and Valley View Nursing Home.
She was a member of AARP Chapter #526, member of the Southwick Grange #46, Pamona #32 and a 7th Degree member of the National Grange. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald William Krostoski of Southampton, Dennis Craig Krostoski and his wife Diane of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kenneth Charles Krostoski and his wife Kelly Jayne of Beaverton, Oregon, and six grandchildren. Her husband John pre-deceased her in 2004.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield with Fr. Phillip Roux Pastor of Holy Family Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. A visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the service.
