In her 70s, she also became a member of the West Springfield Blue Ribbon Singers. Helena was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and affectionately known to countless others as Mom D. and Baci. She was the matriarch of large family gatherings, a welcome guest performer through her early 90s, and well known to hundreds for her love of baking, crocheted blankets and guest appearances singing “Blue Moon” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
