Henry E. Grosz, Jr.

flagSOUTHWICK – Jesus called Henry Edward Grosz, Jr., 73, (1942-2016) home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA after a courageous battle with cancer.   Henry was surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.  Born on November 22, 1942 in Adams, MA, he was a graduate of Adams High School class of 1960.  Henry and his wife attended Westfield Evangelical Free Church in Westfield, MA.  A veteran of the National Guard Reserves, Henry served 3 years in Alert Hose Company, 8 years as the 3rd Assistant in the Adams Volunteer Fire Department, a Superintendent & Heavy Equipment Operator for the Adams Water Department and most recently he served as the Facilities Maintenance Director at Springfield Rescue Mission on Bliss Street in Springfield, MA from November 1989 to December 2010 where he served an integral part in remodeling the building.  Henry was passionate about fishing.  He fished all his life, from a little boy in the streams and basins in Adams through this past summer from his kayak on Prospect Lake.  He and his wife spent many enjoyable days teaching their grandchildren the art of fishing.  He also enjoyed camping, Nascar racing and woodworking.  He along with his wife have made countless items from wood for family and friends.  Henry enjoyed working with his hands, he was a huge fan of repairing things.  He could often be found working on an old tractor, getting it to run “just right”.  His latest endeavor this summer was rebuilding the motor on the Craftsman snow blower so his wife could have it for the winter.  He leaves his wife, Dianne Grosz of Southwick, MA; his daughter, Tami Levesque (Jon) and their children: Jonpierre, Shaleigh and Justin; his step-son, Jeffrey Taylor and his children, Lexie and Jessie; his step-daughter, Denise Taylor (Gabriel Nieves) and their children: Mahlia, Dominick and Jayden; his sister, Jean Davis (Donald) and his beloved Puggle “Socket” who was “Papa’s girl” and always by his side. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Henry during his stay at Baystate Noble Hospital.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 03, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Westfield Evangelical Free Church, 568 Southwick Rd., Westfield, MA with a funeral service to be held at 3:00PM.
