TOLLAND – Henry R. Ledger, 90, of Tolland, MA passed away peacefully on March 9, 2013 at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Dottie (Naylor) Ledger. Born in West Springfield, he attended local schools.
Besides his wife, Dottie, of 56 years, Mr. Ledger was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Ernest, Edgar, Oscar, Leon and George and also sisters, Laura and Sylvia. Mr. Ledger, served in the Army during World War II on the China, Burma, India (CBI) front attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. Mr. Ledger worked for many years as an auto mechanic, owning and operating Ledger’s Garage in Granville, MA. After retiring Mr. and Mrs. Ledger enjoyed touring the country in their RV, visiting friends and family. Mr. Ledger was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and a life member of the VFW, and Lion’s Club.
Mr. Ledger is survived by his daughter, Pat and husband Norman Holcomb of Yarmouthport, MA; son, Ralph and fiancée Barbara Viens of Tolland, MA; and son, Michael and wife Mary of Union, ME; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Ledger’s smile, blue eyes, and happy attitude will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Main Street in Agawam, MA. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
