WESTFIELD – Looking for a weekend full of hockey, prizes, food, and fun?
The KEVS Foundation has just what you are looking for! KEVS Foundation will be hosting the 6th Annual Kevin J. Major Memorial Hockey Tournament August 12-14 at Amelia Park Ice Arena. This is a weekend full of hockey, tons of raffle prizes, amazing silent auction items, local food vendors, and “Major” merchandise. A total of 27 hockey teams, ranging in age and skill level, are expected to attend, as well as over 800 attendees over the course of the weekend. The divisions for the hockey tournament are: “Jr/College/Pro,” “Social,” and “Old Boys” making for a great mix of hockey.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the local non-profit, KEVS Foundation. KEVS works to educate and help prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in children and young adults. Kevin J. Major, an avid, competitive hockey player, lost his life at the age of 19 due to an undiagnosed heart condition, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). KEVS Foundation was created in his name to facilitate free youth heart screenings, help provide program resources for public access defibrillator programs, and to teach the importance of early bystander CPR/AED education and awareness in our communities. KEVS Foundation also supports scholarships and programs for local youth sports and has donated more than 50 AED machines to surrounding communities.
Drop by during the Opening Ceremony on Saturday August 13 at noon, and enjoy a fun-filled weekend.
