Janet M. Sanborn

SAUGUS, MA – Janet Margaret (Poulin) Sanborn, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on June 23rd surrounded by her loving family. Janet was predeceased by her husband Lewis Parker Sanborn, Jr. in 1989. Janet was born in Westfield, MA the only child of the late John and Margaret Poulin.
She graduated from Westfield State College in 1944. On August 3,1946 she married and settled in Saugus. After raising her four children she returned to teaching, first at the Armitage School and then Belmonte Middle School as a math teacher. Upon her retirement she traveled extensively, visiting five continents, became an avid line and ballroom dancer, and generously volunteered her time, most recently at Union Hospital. She enjoyed many visits with her children, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Janet led a long, active and meaningful life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Janet is survived by her four children, Jeff Sanborn and his wife Karen of Canton, GA, Rebecca Ehrhardt and her husband Fred of Lynnfield, Judith Forbes and her husband Eugene of Burlington, VT and Bruce Sanborn of Oceanside, CA. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Jennifer Lina and her husband Jason of Alpharetta, GA, Alison Sanborn and her fiancé Patrick Wirth of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Forbes of Seattle, WA and Jessica Forbes of Burlington, VT. She was a proud great grandmother to Bailey, Brady and Carson Lina. She is also survived by her long time companion Leon Nault.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 26th at Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave. Saugus from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebratory Service is planned at the funeral home on Thursday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial services at Riverside Cemetery in Saugus.
