WESTFIELD – Jeffrey D. Piper, 55, (1968-2023) passed away on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester MA after a courageous battle with health issues. He was born in Westfield on September 20th, 1968 to Richard Piper and Joyce (Martin) Piper-McLean. He was a 1986 graduate of Westfield High School. Jeff furthered his education receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University and later received a Master’s Degree in Education from American International College. He was an employee of the Westfield Public Schools for 23 years as an 8th grade Social Studies teacher at South Middle School in Westfield MA.
Jeff was an avid baseball player, and nothing made him happier than coaching and watching his boys on the baseball field playing for Westfield Little League. He also enjoyed watching them play basketball. He was a huge Boston sports fan and spent summers in Canada on Golden Lake, where he would also play baseball. He enjoyed many trips with his family to Lake George.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Tracy A. (Matyseck) Piper, his two cherished sons, Dustin J. Piper and Tyler D. Piper, his mother Joyce Piper-McLean, his father Richard Piper and his wife Diane, his sister Karen George and her husband Rick and their children, Seth, Nathan and Andrew George, his mother-in-law Sandy Matyseck, his brother-in-law, Thomas Matyseck and his wife Michele and their children Dominic and Franco Matyseck.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his father-in-law David Matyseck and stepfather Donald McLean.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Road, Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations in Jeff’s name may be directed to the Jeffrey D.
