WESTFIELD – Joanne (Marcionek) Monczka, 73, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at home. She was born in Westfield on May 3, 1940 to the late Walter and Katherine Marcionek. She was a lifelong resident, attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Westfield High School.
Joanne was a shipping supervisor for Grief Brothers for over 25 years. She was a former Den Mother for the Westfield Boy Scouts, an officer of the Italian Club, she enjoyed gardening, she was a lifelong race car fan and was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins fan. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Monczka Sr. on March 28, 2000. She leaves her sons, Robert W. Monczka and his wife Faye of Westfield and Richard J. Monczka Jr. of Westfield; her grandchildren, Veronica, Tyler and Ryan; her great-grandchildren, Christina and Savannah; her sister-in-laws, Janet Switzer of Westfield and Barbara Daigneau of Southwick.
The funeral for Joanne will be held on Wednesday, October 30th at 9:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
