WESTFIELD – John A. Gallo Sr., 95, of Westfield died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Noble Hospital. He was born in Westfield on October 30, 1917, son of the late Luigi and Teresa (Conti) Gallo.
John was a graduate of Westfield Trade School and was employed at Stanley Home Products in Easthampton for thirty-five years, retiring in 1980. Prior to Stanley’s, he was employed at several local woodworking shops as a cabinet maker and the Springfield Armory. John was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield, a member of St. Rocco’s Club in Westfield and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the European theater. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing with his brothers.
John leaves his wife of sixty-seven years, Annie B. (Lowe) Gallo and his children, John A. Gallo Jr. and his wife Pamela of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Janet Carpenter and her husband Charles of Merrimack, NH, Terese M. Mongeon and her husband Leonard of Hinesburg, VT. and Louise A. Gadbois and her husband Gerald of Westfield. He also leaves a sister, Elizabeth Laudato of Westfield, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
