John Daley

WESTFIELD – John (Jack) Daley, 79, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Jack was born in Westfield and was the son of Lillian (Gelinas) and John F Daley. He was raised in Westfield and attended St Mary School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga. Jack worked at Columbia Manufacturing in Westfield for nearly 60 years. He was a member of the Liberty Drum Corps, where he met his wife. He was a member of the St Mary’s Men’s club, enjoyed playing cards and was active in many pitch leagues throughout the years. Jack also enjoyed golfing, time with family and his many friends through memberships with Sons of Erin, American Legion and Slovak clubs. He was an amazingly generous, kind, humble and hard-working man, and was incredibly proud of his family. Jack will be sorely missed by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorrie (Kirwin) and their four children: Karen Noblit (Joe), Michael (Alison), Timothy (Kristen), and Kimberly Daley Lamirande (Bill). He will also be forever cherished by his eight grandchildren: Nick, Conner (Maggie McCarthy) and Jake Noblit, Patrick (Karmen) and Ryan Daley, Billy, Jack and Keira Lamirande. Jack also leaves three beautiful great-granddaughters: Ava, Reese and Shea Daley. Jack leaves one brother, Robert Daley and his wife Bonnie of Westfield, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Janet Trusty and her husband James. Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 18, from 4:00-8:00pm at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St, Westfield. The funeral will begin at 9AM on Saturday at Firtion-Adams and a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St Mary’s Church, Bartlett St, at 10AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery with full military honors.
