BOLTON, CT – John P. Morris of Bolton, CT, formerly of 107 Little River Road, Westfield, MA died on December 29, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. John was born on May 23, 1928 in West Springfield, MA. He was the son of the late John and Caroline (Lyncosky) Morris.
He was a graduate of Westfield High School Class of 1946. John received a Bachelor of Arts from Westfield State College and a Masters of Education from the University of Connecticut. He served his country in the US Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. A lifelong teacher, John began his teaching career in the Bolton Public Schools and then later for Aramco Oil in Saudi Arabia. For the next 34 years he was employed by the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) as a teacher and Chairman of the English Department for the Torrejon High School in Madrid, Spain. While there he taught English literature, Greek mythology, drama and directed numerous musical productions of Broadway plays. He was also the coach of the Girls’ basketball team. As an avid golfer he played many championship courses throughout Europe. He enjoyed making wine and maintained his own vineyard in Bolton. John was a dedicated fan of the UConn Girls Basketball Team.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Olga (Brondolo) Morris; his sister, Josephine Marcotte of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-laws and husbands Dorothy and Ron Matusevitz of Glendale, AZ, Eileen and Fred Kross of Peachtree City, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews in California, Virginia and Georgia.
Funeral services and burial will be private with no calling hours.
