John P. Rebmann

Westfield  – John Peter Rebmann, 65, (1953-2018) died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 11, from complications related to pulmonary hypertension. Born in Painsville, Ohio, on January 9, 1953, he was the son of the late Josephine Horton and the late Henry B. Rebmann. He lived all around the East Coast before his family settled in Kennebunk, ME, where he graduated from Kennebunk High in 1971. John lived in Augusta for a while where he had his own business doing workers’ comp and risk manager. He moved to MA in 1988, where he worked for a number of public and private businesses. In 2000, he received his Series-7 certification and became a financial planner. In 2009, he started his own business, Ascendant Financial, and became certified as a Financial Life Planner. He also was a guest lecturer at local colleges. John was passionate about his work and his clients, many of whom became dear friends. Besides his family, who were his greatest love, John loved traveling. He hiked the Appalachian trail and backpacked in Europe for two months, and traveled to many of the Caribbean islands. He also enjoyed gardening and did most of the landscaping at his home. John will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh. He was a charismatic, hard working, selfless and compassionate son, husband, father, uncle and friend. He will be deeply and forever missed by the love of his life and best friend for the past 27 years, Denise (Brunelle), along with their three children, Kelsey, Jonathan and Hayley of Westfield, his sister, Chris Lukas (Ken) of Florida, his brother, the late Hank Rebmann of Maine, mother-in-law Janet Brunelle of South Hadley, brother-in-laws, Rick Brunelle (Lynn) and Stephen Brunelle (Susan), both of South Carolina, Marc Brunelle (Linda) of South Hadley, sister-in-laws, Sharon Bogan (Dan) of South Hadley, Donna Barry (Chuck) of North Carolina along with several cherished nieces and nephews. The family will welcome family and friends at a Celebration of Life on Monday, February 12, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Dockside Restaurant, 1 Alvord St, South Hadley. Remembrances will be at 5:30pm.
