John R. Sak

SOUTHWICK – John R. Sak, 74, a resident of this town for 50 years, died at home on Monday, December 30, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born & educated in Greenfield, MA, John was the son of the late Peter & Stella (Rogalski) Sak, and was a graduate of Greenfield High School.
He worked as a machinist for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT for over 35 years, retiring in 2000. He served in the U.S. Army, and married Rita G. Paulin of Turners Falls, MA on June 25, 1960. He was an avid sportsman, playing baseball and football as a youth. As an adult, he enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling, woodworking, and was known for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rita G. (Paulin) Sak; a son, Darryl  J. Sak of Southwick, MA; a daughter, Michelle T. Johnson of Newtown, PA; a brother, Peter Sak of Greenfield, MA; a sister, Paula Caouette of Easthampton, MA; three grandchildren, Robert A., Ashley C. , & Amanda M. Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6th at 11:30 a.m. from the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick, MA. Burial will be in New Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday January 6th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to the services.
