WESTFIELD – Joseph John Frantiska, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Westfield after a brief illness. A lifelong Westfield resident, he was born on November 9, 1922 to the late George and Mary (Bobko) Frantiska.
After graduating from Westfield Vocational High School, he was employed for ten years by the former American Bosch in Springfield with an interruption for service in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for 34 years at the B and E Tool Company in Southwick until his retirement as president and general manager in 1985. During his life after retirement he was an avid gardener, golfer and fisherman.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Madeline (Barto) Frantiska; a daughter, Carol Crowley of Westfield; a son, Joseph Jr. of North Chelmsford, MA; his beloved grandson, Gregory Crowley and fiance Megan Twining of Russell, MA along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and George. He will be sadly missed by his friends at Dunkin Donuts in Westfield in addition to his canine friends Charlie and Sully.
Following a calling hour from 10:00-11:00 a.m. his funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2nd at the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street (Route 20) in Westfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
