Joseph Telepciak

WESTFIELD – Joseph Telepciak, 88, of Cross Street, Westfield passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Governor’s Center in Westfield. He was born in Westfield June 7, 1924, the son of the late Charles and Anna (Gira) Telepciak.
He was educated in Westfield schools and a graduate of Westfield High School Class of 1942. Later in life Joseph earn his bachelors degree from the University of Missouri in 1952. Joe was a WII US Army Veteran serving as a paratrooper in the F Company of the 505th Airborne Division during the battle of the Bulge.
Joseph was employed for 28 years at the American Express Company in New York, NY, retiring in 1986, when he returned to Westfield, where he has lived ever since. Joe greatly enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively throughout Europe. Very active and fit his entire life Joseph was often found at the YMCA in Westfield. He was also an avid gardener and a voracious reader. Joe was a member of the St. Peter’s Church/St. Casimir’s Church in Westfield.
Joseph is survived by his loving sister, Dorothy E. Telepciak of Westfield, and his many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and William Telepciak and his sisters, Anna (Posnick) Mongillo, Regina Leffingwell, Mary Giordano, Frances Andrewes, Pauline Folan, and Helen Kowiek.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield. The Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street, Westfield has been entrusted with the arrangements.
