Josephine L. Crean

WESTFIELD – Josephine  L. (Lenza) Crean, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Westfield to the late Angelo and Lily (Morgano) Lenza. She was a lifelong resident of Westfield and was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, a member of their senior choir and a soloist for over 50 years.  She also sang with the Do Re Mi Singers, and was a member of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary.  Jo was employed by Steiger’s in Westfield for 13 years, was a founding member of the St. Rocco’s Woman’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Westfield Senior Center.  She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and baking. She was happiest surrounded by her family.  If she wasn’t spending time at a family party, she was bragging about her boys!  Jo is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, James R. Crean of Westfield, her loving children, James J. Crean and his wife Carole of Westfield, Paul A. Crean and his wife Lisa of Medford, OR, Stephen R. Crean and his wife Kim of Agawam, Dr. William T. Crean and his husband Glenn Fitzgerald of Lakewood, CA and Christopher M. Crean and his wife Lisa of Westfield.  She also leaves her twelve cherished grandchildren, James, Michael, Jennifer, Danielle, Jacob, Rianna, Courtney, Kayla, C.J., Joey, Bobby and Cailyn.  She is also survived by her sister Gertrude Harrington and her husband Carl of Westfield, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Lenza, Benny Lenza, and Paul Lenza.  Jo’s funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett St. Westfield. Rites of Committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
