Julia M. Snyder

Snyder Julia030WESTFIELD – Julia Mary (Michonski) Snyder, 94, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at home. She was born in Westfield, daughter of the late Kasimir and Victoria (Wozniak) Michonski of Lockhouse Road. One of 9 sisters and brothers, she graduated from Moseley School, took care of her mother at home, and worked in Springfield and Holyoke before marrying August Snyder.
Julia was a loyal and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, as well as a kind and generous friend to all who knew her. She cooked and baked for extended family, social and work gatherings. She was a gardener, experienced tool user, swimmer, and snow bird – spending many winters with her husband in New Port Richey, Florida, close to family who resided nearby. She was a communicant of both Holy Trinity Church in Westfield and Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick (while summering on North Pond), where she enjoyed bingo with friends.
Julia was predeceased by her husband August in 1984. She is survived by her three children, Dianne Snyder of Westfield, Judith Snyder of Southwick and Audrey Snyder-Perusse and her husband Russell of Southwick. She also leaves two loving grandchildren, Andrew John Snyder-Perusse and Scott Austin Snyder-Perusse with fiancé Kelly Parker.
Funeral services will be held at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home at 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours are from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 5th followed by a service there, and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Julia’s memory to Noble Hospital Hospice Services, 77 Mill Street, Westfield MA 01085 and/or to Baystate Hospice Services, 50 Maple Street, Springfield, MA both helped with her care at home.
